The new Hairy Bikers series; Mums Know Best aired it’s first episode on BBC2 last night.
Si and Dave are celebrating the best of home cooking in Britain and have toured the nation hunting out Britain’s lost family recipes. Those flimsy pieces of paper in the front of mum’s cookbook that Gran noted down, fading with time and in danger of being lost.
Last night’s episode showed how one family had created variations on a “Beany Mince” recipe. Simple and effective, the recipe could be made to easily suit children or spiced up with chilli for the adults.
The boys also showed how to easily make scrummy home made crumpets.
One of the Mum’s has even put together a list of simple equipment and ingredients to make a selection of home bake goodies for under £20.00.
As many of these recipes are created by mums and have been handed down over three or even four generations, one of the main features of their creations is value for money and ease of cooking.
Watch this series and learn some simple home cooking with the usual cheery banter from Si and Dave.
